Fundraisers

You can raise 100% of your assessment fees by participating in a variety of fundraisers and other opportunities offered throughout the year.  Some of the opportunities are offered during the off-season – this gives you the ability to work off your assessment fee before the next season begins.  Current opportunities include:

Target Field Concessions:

RCR will be partnering with Donations for Education to work at concession stands for events at Target Field (mainly Twins home games!)  Working concessions is an easy, fun way to work for your assessment fees for next year. The great thing is there is NO minimum requirements – no minimum number of games, no minimum number of workers.  You can work as many events as you want – if you sign up for an event/game you are always guaranteed a spot to work.

If you worked approximately 10 games between now and October (the end of the Twins’ regular season) – you would be able to march RCR for free! Enlist your parents or friends to work with you and all it will take is a couple of weekends (2-3 games per weekend) to make enough to cover your fees for next year.  Click here to find out all the details about working at the Target Field Concessions.

Kracker Jacks Drumline

You could also earn the money by marching with the Kracker Jacks Drumline over the summer.  Since the Kracker Jacks Drum Shop is a sponsor of RCR, if you march with the drumline, you will be given priority for parades and it would be a chance not only to pay off your RCR fee, but you could also earn extra money on the side besides!  Even if you’re not sure about being able to participate in RCR, you would still be welcome to join the Jacks and earn the money.  Please email bhansen@krackerjacks.com if you’re interested in learning more.

Soliciting Donations

We have an informational packet on how to solicit donations from local businesses based on research and experience.  Even in these tough economical times, businesses are still interested in boosting their image around their respective communities by donating to worthy causes such as this.  Both businesses and individuals look favorably upon students willingly taking it upon themselves to excel at something and to work hard toward a goal.  If done right, this can be quite an effective fundraiser and it’s as simple as writing a letter.  If you’re interested in obtaining this packet, please email info@rcrperc.org for a copy.

GROUP Fundraising:

RCR members are expected to participate in various fundraisers throughout the year to help raise funds for needed equipment and/or the annual trip to WGI.  The fundraisers chosen for each season may vary, but here are a few examples:

Target Field Concessions:  We hope to set aside a few dates during the summer where we would have a large group of RCR volunteers work the concession stands at Target Field.  The funds raised would be used for a specific purpose such as the annual WGI trip and not towards the scholarship fund.  RCR members, friends, family members, and boosters may participate as long as they have gone through the mandatory training sessions.  Notifications will be sent out to RCR members for these fundraising dates.

Greenhouse Workers:  Working the plant lines at a local greenhouse one Saturday during March or April.  A local greenhouse accepts applications from non-profit groups each fall for workers the following spring.  If we’re accepted, RCR members will be expected to work the assigned Saturday in March/April.

Selling Merchandise: At various times throughout the year, RCR members may sell items such as Twins Tickets, Butter Braids, Poinsettias/Roses, etc.  We try to keep these types of fundraiser to an absolute minimum as we know that most members do not enjoy selling things.

Home Show Program Advertising:  Each RCR member is expected to sell at least one ad for the Home Show Program. Proceeds from the ads are used to pay for the facility and other costs involved in putting on the annual home show.

Carlos Creek Winery:  The Carlos Creek Winery accepts non-profit groups to work in their fields picking apples/grapes each fall.  They also look for groups to run concession stands during Stomp Fest.

Valley Fair:  We have submitted a request to work at Valley Fair.  If chosen, our group will be asked to do various duties throughout the day – everything from working the rides to selling food/merchandise to cleaning bathrooms.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age for most jobs and 18 yrs of age or older to operate the rides.  A specific date will be chosen for RCR and more details will be sent.  This is open to current RCR members and those who are considering joining next year.

The above are fundraising opportunities we are pursuing for next season.  Some may occur during the summer or early fall.  If you are not a current RCR member, but are considering joining next season, be sure to let us know so that we can send you fundraising details as they are worked out.
