Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are a very vital part of what we do!

RCR is always looking for people willing to become a BOOSTER and help the group with various behind-the-scenes tasks, such as sewing uniforms, helping with transportation, etc.    We are looking for anyone who is willing to help; whether or not you are connected to any group or staff member is irrelevant, though volunteers do get into performances for free!

We are currently seeking help in the following areas:

Booster President: Main liaison between head director, board and booster club. Communicates needs of staff/drumline to booster club. Facilitates finding volunteers to meet those needs

Booster Committees:

Fundraising: In charge of soliciting donations from businesses/sponsors to keep the group running from the financial side. Works with the head director to determine estimated dollar needs for the upcoming season. Sets up fundraising activities (required and optional) to be carried out by the members – some to be held to raise money for WGI, some to go in to their personal account to cover the season’s dues. Functions year‐round and fundraisers can (and should) be held year‐round. Time period active: January‐December

Uniform: After the uniform design has been decided on, the head director will notify the uniform committee. The uniform committee is then responsible for determining the kind of material to use, measuring the members, purchasing the material (to be reimbursed), then creating the uniforms. This will include (but is not limited to) tops and/or bottoms. Also responsible for the purchase of shoes if necessary (or responsible for using the previous season’s shoes). Time period active: November ‐ January

Floor: Once the floor design has been completed, the head director will submit the design to and communicate with the floor committee. They will be in charge of finding vinyls (if necessary – if the previous season’s floor can’t be used), determining the right amount of paint, sketching the design on to graph paper (if the artist hasn’t done so), buying the paint and materials (plastic for under the floor, double‐stick tape to piece it together, paint brushes, rollers, etc), and helping oversee the painting process. Time period active: December ‐ January

WGI: In charge of setting up the annual trip to the WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH. This includes booking hotel rooms, renting the bus, mapping out the trip (if necessary), planning meals and stops, planning any free time activities in Dayton (bowling, shopping, etc) and determining the costs per member. Also in charge of logistics – things like whether the bus can haul the trailer, and if not, finding a driver, filling the seats with non‐member chaperones/helpers/fans, overseeing the purchase of show tickets for the members, etc. This committee should have a designated representative who will be going on the trip that can be the emergency contact both for the hotel staff and for the families of the members in case they need to be reached. This same person should also be in charge of the medical forms on the trip. Time period active: November – April

Home Show Coordinators:  We need coordinators for concessions, room usage, drumline hosts, publicity, raffle/silent auction.

Home Show Workers:  RCR will be hosting a drumline show on March 13th at 6 pm at the Becker High School.  We are expecting to host 16 drumlines and expect a crowd of 1000-1500 people. We are currently seeking workings in the following areas:

  1. Announcer: introduce each drumline before they are about to perform.
  2. Admissions
  3. Drumline Check-in
  4. Drumline hosts: welcome the drumlines and show them where they “home room” is, show the way to the practice areas and guide them to the performance floor at the appropriate time.
  5. Hallway monitors:  be available to help spectators and drumlines find their way around the school and keep them out of restricted areas.
  6. Performance Entrance/Exit monitors:  make sure no spectators enter/leave the performance floor during a performance
  7. Concession workers
  8. Set-up/Clean-up crews
  9. Silent auction workers
  10. Raffle ticket sellers
  11. Judges/Critiques Room:  make sure judges are welcomed, show them to their hospitality room and make sure they have food and beverages during breaks
