Fundraisers

Fundraising is key to our mission to support the ongoing operation of River City Rhythm.  During the year will be holding various fundraisers as well as soliciting corporate sponsorships and grants.

Current Fundraisers

Website Advertising:

You may have noticed that our website now has a sponsor section in the right sidebar of each webpage, plus we have a web page dedicated to our sponsors.  We are now selling advertising for the website at a very reasonable cost.  Please contact your local merchants, corporations and organizations to see if they would like to purchase adverstising on our site.  You can refer them to the Advertising page where they will soon be able to pay for their advertisment online.  They must submit ads/ad copy in a digital form to ads@rcrperc.org.  If you have any questions, please contact Jill Beim (jbeim@rcrperc.org).

Twins Tickets:

We put in an order for a block of 150 tickets to a Twins Game in August/September.  We will be able to purchase the tickets at a discounted rate and sell them for face value.  We are currently awaiting confirmation from the MN Twins and hope to find out soon the exact date and section our seats will be in.  Be watching for more details…
UPDATE: The Twins office informed us today that all group reservation tickets have been sold out for the season.  They did offer us a group of 100 tickets in the outfield section at a slightly discounted rate.  Because of the location of the tickets and the minimal profit margin, we have decided to decline this opportunity for this year.

UPCOMING FUNDRAISERS:

Target Field Concessions

We hope to set aside a few dates during the summer where we would have a large group of RCR volunteers work the concession stands at Target Field.  The funds raised would be used for a specific purpose such as the annual WGI trip and not towards the scholarship fund.  RCR members, friends, family members, and boosters may participate as long as they have gone through the mandatory training sessions.  Notifications will be sent out to RCR members for these fundraising dates. (for information about Target Field Concessions for member assessment fees, click here)

Greenhouse Workers:

Working the plant lines at a local greenhouse one Saturday during March or April.  A local greenhouse accepts applications from non-profit groups each fall for workers the following spring.  If we’re accepted, RCR members will be expected to work the assigned Saturday in March/April.  Boosters are encouraged to work along with the members as the bigger the group, the greater the profit.

Selling Merchandise:

At various times throughout the year, RCR members/boosters may sell items such as Twins Tickets, Butter Braids, Poinsettias/Roses, etc.

Carlos Creek Winery:

The Carlos Creek Winery accepts non-profit groups to work in their fields picking apples/grapes each fall.  They also look for groups to run concession stands during Stomp Fest.

Valley Fair:

We have submitted a request to work at Valley Fair.  If chosen, our group will be asked to do various duties throughout the day – everything from working the rides to selling food/merchandise to cleaning bathrooms.  Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age for most jobs and 18 yrs of age or older to operate the rides.  A specific date will be chosen for RCR and more details will be sent.  This is open to current RCR members and those who are considering joining next year.

Other fundraisers currently in the planning stages are:

  • Great Lakes Scrip
  • eBay Community Giving and eBay Non-profit Store
  • United Way – designating RCR as a United Way recipient
  • Selling bedding plants in the spring
  • Applying for grants from various foundations, Lions/Legion clubs, etc.  We are waiting for finalization of our tax-exempt application before we can apply for grants.
  • Herberger’s Community Fundraising Day
  • Kohl’s Fundraising
  • Ride for Rhythm – a 3-hour scenic motorcycle ride including refreshments and door prizes
  • Moonlight Golf
  • and any other idea you wish to submit

We expect all boosters to participate in fundraising and also encourage each of you to chair a fundraiser that you feel passionate about.  It’s important to the health of the organization that everyone not only participates, but also shares in organizing and running a fundraiser.
